Iroquois Steeplechase Continues International Opportunity with The Jockey Club UK
The Iroquois Steeplechase is pleased to continue its work with The Jockey Club UK, with support from TVV Capital, extending an international racing opportunity tied to one of America’s premier jump races.
Under this continuation, the winner of the Grade 1 Calvin Houghland Iroquois Steeplechase, held each May at Percy Warner Park in Nashville and contested for a $250,000 purse, will receive an invitation and travel incentive to compete in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2027.
The Calvin Houghland Iroquois is one of the most significant hurdle races in North America and serves as a cornerstone event on the National Steeplechase Association calendar. This opportunity reflects the caliber of horses competing in Nashville and recognizes the race’s standing within the broader international jump racing community.
In 2025, Abaan captured the Calvin Houghland Iroquois Steeplechase but was unable to travel overseas following his win. Connections look ahead to his return to jump racing this spring.
The Iroquois Steeplechase has long been committed to supporting the sport of steeplechasing while honoring its traditions and future. This continued collaboration reinforces that commitment by providing a clear, competitive pathway from Nashville to one of the world’s most prestigious jump racing stages.
