For the second year in a row, the Iroquois Steeplechase has partnered with Christine A. Moore of Christine A. Moore Millinery and Nashville retailer Gus Mayer for the annual Spring event which will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017.

A familiar name in the fashion niche of the horse racing world, Moore was first named the “Official Milliner” of the Iroquois Steeplechase in 2016 for its 75th Anniversary event and quickly came on board for a second year. Her pieces are sold in Tennessee exclusively at Gus Mayer -- a longtime supporter of Steeplechase and a favorite of the event’s patrons when it comes to shopping for race day fashions.

“Christine is passionate about racing events and producing hats and fascinators that are comfortable, sophisticated and add to the glamour and overall experience of a day at the races,” said GeorgeAnn Dingus, Director of Sponsorship and Development for the Iroquois Steeplechase. “Gus Mayer has been a valuable sponsor of ours for many years, and the decision to continue a relationship with both their team and with Christine is an honor for us.”

Based in New York City, Moore is best known for her handmade, explosive racing styles, two of which are in the Kentucky Derby Museum. She has been featured on “The Today Show” six times live from Churchill Downs and called the “Milliner to the Triple Crown” by NBC.  As the Official Milliner for Breeders’ Cup and the featured designer at the Florida Derby, Keeneland Racecourse and the Preakness Stakes, she has enjoyed being able to include the Iroquois Steeplechase in her portfolio.

“I love traditions and am honored to be part of this iconic sporting event in the beautiful state of Tennessee!” Moore said.

Hats by Christine A. Moore Millinery -- which have been used in the official artwork for the Kentucky Derby-- have also been showcased in many fashion magazines including covers with Katy Perry for InStyle and Jennifer Lopez for Vanity Fair.

Beth Franklin, Store Manager for Gus Mayer in Nashville, echoes Moore’s enthusiasm for the partnership.

“Christine is so much fun to work with, and her unique, elegant designs complement the lines we carry and suit our clientele’s tastes exceptionally,” Franklin said. “It was great fun to have her in the store last year, assisting customers with pairing her hats and fascinators with Gus Mayer clothing and accessories for race day, and we anticipate her trunk show at the store becoming a hallmark of the Steeplechase pre-race season.”

Gus Mayer -- the only retailer in the state of Tennessee to carry Moore’s designs -- will host the milliner for a trunk show on Wednesday, April 12 and Thursday, April 13 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days. Various hats and fascinators will be on display and Moore will be available to assist shoppers with their selections. Moore will also be at Gus Mayer Thursday, May 11 and Friday, May 12, and her pieces will be featured at the Iroquois Steeplechase in the Iroquois Shoppes -- an area of retail booths positioned near the boxes.
